Who Are You Modeling?


 

The other day I was talking to an associate at the health club I just started going to. (Never had the time when I was working for someone else.) We began having a conversation about our personal trainers. If you aren't familiar with the word, these are fitness experts who are educated to design work-out routines based on personal strengths, needs and targets.

Either way, Rick said something that struck me right between the eyes. "I got so baffled reading all the books and fitness magazines. Everyone has a different opinion of what rewards the best. I after a long time figured if I was going to work out, I might as well pick one professional, be attentive to them and put in action their program."

Later, as I was driving my sore body home, I was thinking about how adequate Rick's response was to internet marketing. Everyone's an expert. (although people who didn't manage to sell their first eBook.) And there exist million programs, books, secrets, techniques and tactics that will work for you.

The problem is, you can very easily fall into what my favorite business school professor nicknamed, "Analysis Paralysis". That's where a lot of people are trapped. They keep reading, and it interfere in the way of really work on something.

I was guilty of this, too. I must have bought several hundred dollars worth of books and courses before I saw what was working for me, with my very own internet business.

Luckily, the expert I decided to work in his methods was, in hindsight, an extraordinary choice. And by listening to his advice and listening to his ideas, I have built up a couple of thriving earnings streams.

I'm not saying that my "guru" is the right one for everyone. What I'm saying is to choose one or maybe a few people you really respect, and model them. Of course, make sure they are really successful in their own businesses first. But when you encounter with someone you respect and whose style you like, follow their tips and listen to what they recommend in their writings.

Following this strategy can save many brain cells that you would use switching strategies and tactics. It avoids mix up and offers you a great point of reference from which to work.

You can lay out the reading and the searching for the latest eBooks. Assume your guru knows the latest methods and will recommend you of how well they work.

I'm not telling you never read from another eBook or eZine again, it's pretty much that when you have one primary star you follow, it's that much easier to see your way, working from home.
